This sweetheart is Hailey.
Hailey was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in June 2014 at the young age of 2.
Hailey is a loving 4 year old girl that unfortunately has been given the hard hand of having cancer.
The will of this fighter has inspired us all.
She loves to dress up, sing, dance, paint, color and play with family and friends. Basically, she loves being a kid, but some of her childhood has been stripped from her because of doctor/hospital visits and chemotherapy.
Hailey’s being a kid was interrupted by cancer, and that’s not right.
In the photo, you can see Hailey wearing a ribbon that says “Hope, Courage, Love”. Hailey was a recipient of a Bling For Bravery Medal, which is a Snowdrop Foundation program started by Larry DeSpain where runners can donate their race medals to him and he then visits the cancer kids at Texas Children’s Cancer Center and gives them the medal, as THEY are the true warriors, the REAL competitors, competing for LIFE.
Today’s run, again with my favorite running partner, Frank Medrano, was a scheduled 6 mile progressive run (each mile faster than the previous) starting with 9:30 pace down to 8:30 then final mile as fast as possible, then 1-2 mile cool down. Splits: 9:23, 9:13, 9:06, 8:49, 8:25, 8:03…Cool down at 9:40 and the .35 at 8:56.
Hailey, we had an outstanding run.
Who will you meet tomorrow?
