…144 Days Until Race Day
This Super Cutie is Lily.
Lily is 4 years old and has Leukemia.
Most of the remainder of this was written by my journalist friend, Kim Kyle Morgan who did an article on Lily and an upcoming event in her honor.
Lily was exhibiting the classic symptoms of an ear infection, including tugging on her ear.
But a visit to the doctor revealed the 4-year-old had a much more serious condition. By the end of the day, the family had gone from an earache to leukemia.
Lily, who has Down Syndrome, was admitted to Texas Children’s Cancer Center and soon underwent her first round of chemotherapy.
Lily is currently in the hospital for her second round out of four rounds of chemotherapy.
The fourth, and final round is the most important.
That’s when Lily is scheduled to receive a bone marrow transplant, however, they have not found a bone marrow match for Lily yet.
A blood and bone marrow drive is slated for tomorrow (Tuesday Dec. 6) at Mitchell Intermediate School in The Woodlands.
Participants can donate blood and/or undergo a simple mouth swab to be added to the bone marrow registry.
“We have a feeling we will find a match somehow, some way,” said Lily’s dad.
Lily’s mom puts her battle into perspective, “Lily is doing very well. She has a very bright future. We just want to keep her with us.”
If you’d like to help Lily and her family, here are the details for tomorrow’s drive:

Lily, we kicked butt, baby girl, just like you are kicking cancer’s butt.
Who will you meet tomorrow?
