…142 Days Until Race Day
The information on today’s childhood cancer warrior was submitted to me through the Snowdrop Honor Team.
Snowdrop Honor Team was started by Bob Milligan to align runners with pediatric cancer patients whom we can dedicate our races to. Bob‘s brainchild was the impetus for my 175 days of dedications while I train for Ultramilano-Sanremo.
This handsome little man is Drew Bear.
Drew was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL).
He will have extensive chemo treatment over the next 3 yrs.
That was all of the information I was given on Drew Bear. I’m confident though that we’ll learn more about him through comments from mutual friends.
Even though I don’t know Drew Bear, his family or his story very well, I chose to dedicate today’s run to him because it was kind of a “Bear” of a run.
1 hour, in grass, with increased effort as the run progressed. Since grass is a softer surface than road, it takes more strength and energy to go faster, so I was thinking a great result would be 6.5 miles.
My mile splits: 9:46, 9:14, 8:58, 8:22, 8:04, 8:38 and 8:13 for the final .84.
Drew Bear, we rocked this run today, buddy.
Who will you meet tomorrow?
