We currently have a chapter in Texas and Wisconsin, we need more.  Establishing a Snowdrop Foundation chapter is not an activity to be undertaken lightly. The strength of the organization as a whole depends on each chapter creating and sustaining an active, growing presence in its community. Programs, activities and services at the local level are critical to the growth of the organization nationally.

To initiate a chapter, the following steps must be taken.

  1. Email Trish Kline, Executive Director trish@snowdropfoundation.org for a preliminary discussion.
  2. Application process
  3. Interview process
  4. Back Ground Check
  5. A Vote by the Snowdrop Foundation Headquarters Board of Directors in Texas
  6. Chapter affiliation agreement with the parent organization.

Some critical provisions:

Legal requirements, the chapter will be incorporated with the parent organization

Branding and Trademarks

Geographical area your chapter covers

Reporting and recording requirements for the chapter

Assistance the parent organization will provide to your chapter (ie: training, covering bylaws, accounting, etc )

  1. The new chapter will need to obtain an EIN — an Employer Identification Number — from the IRS. This will identify the new chapter’s tax account, and allow you to accomplish legal responsibilities.
  2. The parent organization is on file with the IRS for 501 c 3 tax-free status. Which you will use under the umbrella of Snowdrop Foundation.
